Soft pastel seascape in muted tones

About Me And My Quiet Sight

My name is Asta Rouz, and I work in soft pastel.

I never set out to make loud work. I've always been drawn to what carries quiet — water, depth, the light that slowly reveals a shape. Fish, the marine world, reflections. Not because they're striking, but because they hold character and mood I want to live with every day.

Each piece is built by hand — layer by layer, color by color.

Soft pastel doesn't forgive haste: it comes together through observation, through material, through color. I return to the same subjects again and again until life surfaces in them.

It isn't an image. It's a finished object — carefully completed, thoughtfully framed, ready to take its place in a real interior.

I keep the visual language clean and restrained, without unnecessary noise.

So the work doesn't compete with a space, but lives in it with ease and natural presence.

What matters to me isn't making an impression. It's making an honest thing — something calm to be near.
